TO : THE CLERGY, RELIGIOUS AND LAY FAITHFUL OF THE
ARCHDIOCESE OF LIPA
RE : POPE FRANCIS’ MESSAGE FOR THE 27th WORLD DAY OF
THE SICK
On 11 February 2019, we will observe the 27th World Day of the Sick. I am respectfully forwarding to you His Holiness Pope Francis’ Message for this occasion.
Aware of the suffering of her children, Holy Mother Church is knocking at the door of our hearts that we may look tenderly, care for compassionately and bear patiently with the sick in our midst. In a special way, may I request all our faithful to pray for our sick priests, friends and loved ones confined either in hospitals or at home.
Let us also take this occasion to renew and strengthen our faith in our Lord’s saving power, keeping our gaze fixed upon him, as in the desert the Israelites looked upon the bronze serpent to be saved from death. Let us also take inspiration from the life of St. Teresa of Calcutta who dedicated her whole self-caring, loving and tending the sick, the destitute and the abandoned.
May Our Lady of Caysasay, comforter of the afflicted, intercede for us to Her Son that we all may receive from Him bodily and spiritual healing and help to bear our sufferings and those of our brothers and sisters in the spirit of Christian charity with faith and fortitude.
Given this 29th day of January in the year of our Lord two thousand nineteen, at the Chancery Office, Cathedral Site, Lipa City.
(sgd)Most Rev. Gilbert A. GARCERA, D.D.
Archbishop of Lipa
(sgd)Rev. Fr. Jayson N. ALCARAZ Chancellor
