On the Three-Year Preparation for the Golden Jubilee
of the Archdiocese of Lipa
Whereas, the local Church of Lipa, created diocese in 1910, was a suffragan diocese of the Archdiocese of Manila;
Whereas, Pope Paul VI in virtue of the Bull “Qui summi Numinis” of 1972 elevated the local Church of Lipa as an archdiocese, separating itand also the churches of Lucena, Infanta and Calapan from the ecclesiastical province of Manila;
Whereas, the then Bishop Alejandro Olalia served as its first archbishop;
Whereas, in 2022, the local Church of Lipa will celebrate the 50thanniversary of it becoming an archdiocese;
Whereas, in 2019 the three-year preparation for the Golden Jubilee of the Archdiocese of Lipa will start:
2019 – National Year of the Youth and Archdiocesan Year of Hope,
2020 – National Year of Inter-religious Dialogue and Ecumenism and Archdiocesan Year of Faith,
2021 – 5th Centenary of the Christianization of the Philippines and Archdiocesan Year of Charity;
Whereas, 2019 will underscorethe growth and maturity in faith of the Batangueños, thus we say “Yabong”;
Whereas, 2020 will foster the Batangueño faithful’s relationship of dialogue with brethren from other religions and appreciate and take pride in the Christian faith received, thus we say “Yabang”;
Whereas, 2021 will be the national celebration of the growth inthe Christian faith of the Filipinos sowed 500 years ago, thus, the imperative to share the faith, which is “Yaman”;
Whereas, in 2022, the Archdiocese of Lipa will reflect on the theme, “You are being enriched in every way for all generosity, which through us produces thanksgiving to God” (2Cor 9:11), witnessing to faith by inviting each and every one to come to the Eucharistic Lord, thus we say “Yakag”;
Whereas, an official logo is created in order to convey in a symbolic manner the spirit of communion, gratitude, joy and hope of the faithful of the Archdiocese of Lipa as they prepare for and celebrate the Golden Jubilee of the Archdiocese of Lipa;
Whereas, this logo must be promoted in parishes, schools, chapels and social media;
So therefore, I, by the Grace of God and the Authority of the Apostolic See, declare the launching of the three-year preparation through the unveiling of the official logo of the Golden Jubilee of the Archdiocese of Lipa.
